Do I need a referral from my dentist?
No. We have a great relationship with general dentists throughout the Greater Boston area, and your dentist may refer you to us. However, a referral is not necessary.
What does a periodontist do?
A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease (a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth also known as gum disease), and in the placement and maintenance of dental implants.
When should I see a periodontist?
You should consult a periodontist if you’re experiencing signs of gum disease such as swollen, tender, or bleeding gums, receding gums, loose teeth, or persistent bad breath. If you have loose or missing teeth, a periodontist can provide ideal solutions like dental implants. Moreover, if you’re considering getting a dental implant, a periodontist has specialized training in performing such surgeries and will ensure the best possible outcomes.
Why should I choose a board-certified periodontist?
In addition to 3 additional years of specialized training beyond dental school, Dr. Jiang successfully completed a comprehensive examination covering all phases of periodontal disease and its treatment, as well as the surgical placement of dental implants.
